Improving and getting the soil right is essential to healthy plant growth. The healthier the soil, the more drought-resistant your plants will be.

Sandy soil is typical in WA, its naturally very nutrient poor and does not hold water well. By adding Spongolite or Zeolite Gravel and/or Zeolite Sand, along with soil improvers such as organic matter, soil and other wetting agents and soil amendments can hugely improve soil.

When purchasing products to improve your soil, look out for products with the Waterwise and Smart Approved WaterMark symbols. These are the preferred choice because of their relevance to WA’s climatic conditions and their water saving qualities.

Work on about 2kg per square meters for lawn and standard garden. For vegetable gardens work on 4kg per square meter.

Can be used in ponds, its main role is reducing algae growth by absorbing Ammonia. Any plant that has a root system can extract the stored nutrient within the Zeolite. This acts the same on land as it does in water. It basically stores the nutrient until a plant asks for it. Therefore Zeolite helps with the natural process of the nutrient cycle in your pond.

The great thing about this is you cant overdose and all ponds can benefit from Zeolite. For algae control you need to disperse small amounts, just enough to cloud the water, regularly until the algae starts to clear. Ideally you would do this every day, or at least every second day, for anywhere between 1 - 4 weeks, depending on your pond. Do remember all ponds are different so application rates and times will vary.
